Stephen P. Ratcliffe, CFP®

Stephen is a principal and Director of Financial Planning at Providence Capital Advisors. In this role, Stephen works to fully understand client goals and objectives and then offers strategic financial guidance in developing a comprehensive and customized plan. His areas of expertise include asset management, insurance, strategic tax and income tax planning, retirement and social security strategies, risk management, education and estate planning.

Prior to joining the firm, Stephen was a Wealth Management Advisor with Northwestern Mutual. Stephen joined Northwestern Mutual in 2001 after receiving his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his 15 years with Northwestern Mutual, Stephen worked with his clients to build comprehensive financial plans through the use of both insurance and investment-related strategies. Stephen received his CFP® designation in 2004 and is also a ChFC® and CLU.

Stephen stays active as a community volunteer with the Corners Society, an organization dedicated to serving Charlotte nonprofit organizations through the giving of time and money. In addition, he provides ongoing support for the Salvation Army by spearheading efforts to raise money and purchase gifts for families participating in the annual Empty Stocking Fund. Stephen also enjoys coaching his children in athletics. Stephen is a native of Charlotte and his wife, Allison, is from High Point, NC. They have three children, Graham, Colin and Kate.
